Discover a charming village during your vacations in Charente-Maritime!

During your stay in Charente-Maritime, you may be tempted to visit the commune of Talmont-sur-Gironde. Located in the southwest of the department, 15 km south of Royan, Talmont-sur-Gironde stands facing the sea.

Our hotel in Saintes in the Charente-Maritime is located 40 minutes by car from Talmont-sur-Gironde. We offer rooms for 1 to 3 people to rest between 2 visits of the region.

A village full of charm

The village of Talmont-sur-Gironde is surrounded by marshes and waters. It offers an incredible view of the estuary and the fishermen's huts built on stilts.

The village can be visited on foot. We invite you to start your walk through the small paved streets. You will certainly pass by the small port, cross the path of the vestiges of the White Tower and arrive at the Sainte-Radegonde church.

Take the time to admire the greenery and the sublime hollyhocks from May to September, all along the narrow streets, appreciate the calm and serenity that reigns there.

Continue your stroll through the traditional small white houses of Charente, dressed with blue or gray shutters. Also, discover the Place de la Priauté and its huge centenary lime tree from 1895. If you go through the ramparts walk, you will also have the opportunity to admire beautiful panoramas.

What to see in Talmont-sur-Gironde ?

Museum of local history and fishing

This museum is installed in the old school of the village and retraces the history of Talmont as well as the geology of the site, the church but also the American port of 1917. It also traces the fishing activity in the lower estuary of the Gironde.

The museum is open every day except Monday.

The Church of Sainte-Radegonde

This superb Romanesque church dates back to the 11th century and was redesigned in the 15th century. Emblematic of the village, it dominates it perched on its promontory.

A stop in the stores

Finish your walk by visiting the village stores. One of the first shops to open in the village of Talmont-sur-Gironde is Dominique's Farniente store. A very nice concept set up to offer clothes imported from Bali by the manager and his family. This totally fair import allows many Balinese families to live decently.

You can also find Gladys and Joël's little store, located on the port street. This small jewelry and leather goods store has been established there for 18 years and offers articles of very good quality.
